Below is a general guide to some commonly ordered sizes. There are many options and variables with any commission, so an individual quote is best. Please note: The prices below are for a single subject; extra subjects are 50% of the base price for first, 30% for all for others.
Simple toned backgrounds or plain grassy ones for outdoors are included in the price. More complex backgrounds may cost more and will be quoted at the time of commissioning. Where N/A is in the box; the size is not suited to the medium in my opinion. I can offer spread payments after an initial deposit, where this is helpful.

You may also attach any photos if you have them. To discuss your commission in person, please call one of the contact numbers given. As I am often in the studio, please leave a message and preferred contact time if I don't answer at once. I will respond within 24 hours of your call.
I love to meet the subjects I am portraying where possible, and can also take the photos for you if required, distance allowing. Prices start at £35 for local and £50 for further afield trips. The photo shoot is between one and two hours usually and and you can keep also any digital photos you like in addition to the one we select for your Portrait.
If taking your own photos, images should be sharp, well lit and of as high resolution as possible. Please do not save digital images smaller to send, as detail is lost this way when it comes to enlarging. It is best to photograph animals from their own level rather than from above as this can give a distorted aspect to the subject.
Having said all that, I have been able to achieve good results with less than ideal photographs when they are all that is available; for instance with a posthumous portrait.
Once the photos are decided on, I will confirm size, background and any other requirements with you and verify the deadline for the work. At this stage a 30% deposit is payable. Oil paintings standardly take from 4 to 6 weeks but I can often make tighter deadlines where needed.
For longer distance and overseas commissions, I send you photo updates during the process and before final dispatch. When you are completely happy, I send the completed Portrait, fully insured by Royal Mail Parcel Force. I quote this individually as it varies on location, dimensions, weight etc. Drawings are usually delivered mounted (matted) and sealed but with overseas ones it is cheaper to send tube rolled.
